SEO(Search Engine Optimization) is a hot topic and like most technical topics, the further you get into the details, the more complicated it becomes. This post is not about those complicated details. This is about a very easy way to understand the power of search terms and use them to your advantage. There are a lot of great resources out there that focus on the top keywords and phrases used in a search. For example, Answer the Publicis a really resourceful site that will display all of the search questions the public is asking about certain topics. You would use the information found on sites like this to help craft or edit the content on your own site, so your site contains the answers to the questions the public is asking. For example, if I were to search, "How do I change a flat tire?" Google is going to produce results that are pretty close to: "Learn how to change a flat tire..." or "Here is a video demonstrating how to change a flat tire."
The key is to include the answers to the searches within your website's text or content. And one way to get a boost on your search ranking is to use the related search terms. When you do a search on Google, you will notice at the very bottom of the page you will see a list of "Related Search Terms." This list represents what others are already searching for. Try to include as many of these in you website's content as possible. See the image below where I searched for "Accountants near me."
If you add search terms like "Tax accountant, personal accountant, cpa tax accountant, small business accountant..." to your existing content you will see a boost in traffic to your site. Keeping your content relevant to current searches is a great way to gain more interest in your business.
